We leave the "Meeting of the Waters".

John at the "Meeting of the Waters"

Donna at the "Meeting of the Waters"

We are now on the Rio Negro, which is the largest blackwater river in the World. The dark color comes from humic acid, from incomplete breakdown of phenol-containing vegetation from sandy clearings. The Rio Negro flows into the Rio Solimões to form the Amazon River below Manaus, Brazil. We will continue our way to Manaus, Amazon, Brazil.
